Progress

1. I would define progress as any sort of improvement or any sign of moving forward.
2. "The Progressive Era was a period of widespread social activism and political reform across the United States that spanned from the 1890s to the 1920s." (wikipedia). This era in time is referred to as the progressive era because during this time people were targeting their bosses for form a direct democracy. 
3. They, "sought to address the economic, political, and cultural questions that had arisen in the context of the rapid changes brought with the Industrial Revolution and the growth of modern capitalism in America." (heritage).
4. Categorizing their goals in order of importance:
1. fostering efficiency 
2. creating economic reform
3. protecting social welfare
4. promoting moral improvement
