political cartoons on imperialism

Imperialism in Political Cartoons

I think this political cartoon is trying to say that the philippinos don't want to be part of America but the US is still trying to chase them down and have them colonize with us. Also with Europe in the background I think the cartoonist is trying to add that if they don't join America then the europeans are going to go in and try to have the Philippines join Europe. The reason I think this is because Uncle Sam is running after a person with the word "filipino" written on them and a group of people are in the background standing on land labeled Europe.

I think this political cartoon is trying to say that all of these different places are attempting to colonize with Africa and are all pulling the country in different directions but it's not moving anywhere. I think this because the picture has 8 men, all labeled with different places, and it has marks by each of their hands trying to show movement but no marks around the country itself.

I think this political cartoon is trying to say that America and Hawaii are going back and forth over giving resources and whether or not Hawaii will become part of the United States. It also is trying to show that overall America is better that Hawaii by itself because thats the side thats down and along with Uncle Sam, that side of the see-saw shows a man with a hat labeled "provisional government". I think this because the picture shows someone from Hawaii vs people from America over a barrel of sugar and again America is this side that "won".
